Taycare Medical is a leading supplier of orthotic products and services in the UK. Based in Leeds, West Yorkshire, we are an independent family-run business which is passionate about improving the lives of our customers. Our orthotic devices can help reduce pain, restore the body’s natural functions and improve mobility.

With 75 employees, including a dedicated team of orthotists and an extremely skilled workforce of technicians, we work with patients living all over the country. Every customer is an individual with their own unique needs and we are committed to finding ways to help them overcome the challenges they face.

A Personal Approach
OUR HISTORY
The start of our story dates back to the aftermath of the First World War when a whole generation of men attempted to return to their daily routine with a range of life-changing injuries and disabilities. Ernest Taylor and Arthur Higgins, prosthetic technicians who made artificial limbs for the Ministry of Pensions, joined forces to create Taylor and Higgins Ltd in Leeds in 1925.
Sadly, Arthur Higgins died shortly after the business was established but the Taylor family continued the enterprise, embracing advances in medical technology and expanding its range of products and services. In 1970, Ernest’s grandson Philip Taylor joined the company, training as a leatherwork technician and then an orthotist before rising to his current role of clinical director. Under his leadership, the firm was renamed TayCare Medical in 2004. Over the years, TayCare has been based in a number of locations but it has always remained in Leeds and its head office is now in Wortley.
